French music a gogo : Hédika

Born in Hungary,Hédika's parents worked the music-hall circuit. In 1961,aged 15 she won the "Miss Juke Box Paris" competition, organized by Eddie Barclay. That year she made two ep's for Festival. The tracks were all rock numbers including covers of songs popularised by Elvis and Chubby Checker. Her voice is quite raw and shrill, with a lot of youthful energy. All eight tracks appear on the Twistin' the Rock Volume 4 cd (shared with Nicole Paquin). After spending the 60's performing in clubs,Hédika retired from the music scene in 1971.(adapted from the yé-yé girls website)

Music a gogo : Curlee Wurlee!

A Parisian girl living in Düsseldorf, two boys from Cologne and one from Solingen, this is Curlee Wurlee! They played plenty of shows all over Europe, appeared on tv as well as radio stations, participated at underground performances and festivals and recorded some beautiful records thanks to a wild guitar, a crazy decided bass and energetic beat drums... and of course Cécile with her organs. It all started with the Girls: Cécile, Frauke and some friends formed Curlee Wurlee! at the end of the 1998. The girls hoorayed as Michael Rodeo (guitar, backing vocals) joined the band in April 2001 and added his very special touch.CW! was happy to welcome two new members in June 2004: Beat Mike is CW's new drummer and Geree Wurlee is now the man on bass.People love the vocals in “Frenglish” (CW! has French,German and English-language (both with a serious French accent) songs) and their brilliant harmonies and parties with the audience. The long awaited new lp is currently in preparation. website If you like also check out this.

French music a gogo : Johnny Hallyday

I thought it would be nice to put some GUYS up from time to time...So here we blast off with the French Elvis,Johnny Hallyday. At the end of the sixties Johnny seemed to be desperate to fit in the changing music scene,so he experimented with some more unusual (for him at least) songs.During that time he also appeared alongside Sylvie Vartan in the très pop movie "Les Poneyttes",you can see him on the left covered in gold! Later he would return to his proven formula of course.
