Norwegian music a gogo : Karin Krog

Originally billed as Karin Krogh on this single she made in 1966 with the group "Public Enemies" (a very popular Oslo based R`n`B band).Perhaps Norway's leading jazz-singer,she's had an impressive career and was rediscovered by hipsters some years ago - for instance she's recorded with The Bobby Hughes Experience.Crippled Dick did a compilation of her recordings and this song was also re-issued on a single in 2002 by a UK record-label.Big thanks to qqf resident for this!

I just wrote a long comment here, but lost it when I tried to publish it. A bang on the ear to blogger!

Anyway, can’t repeat it all. With regards to the general retro pop request from earlier (you made one, right?), here’s a song by Italian Mina:

If you don’t like it, hit the delete button. I have three of her mid-60s, all called studio something - and Conversazione‘s taken from one of them. Overall they’re so-so, but they have really fab covers.

Here are four other songs for your private listening joy (or despair) - they don‘t fit into the schlocker profile, still they‘re a fun listen, so I couldn‘t help myself:

The Sandro Brugnolini twist track features Helen Merrill on vocals (taken from a jazz record on déjà vu). There’s also a wordless jazz pop number from the late 50s by Alice Babs & the Swe-Danes, because that record’s such a big hit in my home (because I'm square:). And a song by Marek Grechuta, a chance purchase from a visit to Warsaw. Finally I had to include Torpedo by the Novi Singers because it’s so perfect to listen to before one goes chasing the women. So here it is, just in time before the weekend.

Hope some of these songs are to your liking.
