Dutch music a gogo : Iris Zegveld

"On her one and only release (on Relax records) Iris is backed by Short 66.It's the typical one-off recording so common for these teen-singers,who they were is almost impossible to track down. But what we have here is one of the most charming records of it's kind. For a big part it's because of the nice sparse arrangement by Short 66 but it's also the lyrics and the beautiful voice of Iris.It was released in 1966."(Andy Warhoofd/From the kitchen to the garage-edit)(Oh and that's not Iris pictured on the left!)

Music a gogo : Samantha

Belgian girl-singer Samantha sung mostly in Dutch but sometimes also in other languages (English,Spanish...).
Her career didn't take off until the 70's.In 1967 she entered the "song festival" Cantonissima (her big tv debut) and she also participated in several other contests throughout the 60's such as the 1969 Knokke Cup.Personally I love her 60's songs.
This song translates as "Stealer of hearts".

Music a gogo : Gitte

Danish born Gitte Haenning already made her first record (together with her father) when she was eight. In 1958 she got her first recording-contract and stormed (now solo) the Danish hit-parade.In 1960 she already recorded a jazzsong with Laurie Johnson, she also worked with Oscar Pettiford and Stan Getz.Meanwhile she had also begun to sing in German and Dutch, but her great love remained jazz. Her big break-through in Germany came in 1963 with the song "Ich will 'nen Cowboy als Mann" (more than 800.000 copies sold).Gitte also made versions in Dutch,English and Danish.Everybody went nuts about this little girl with the cute Danish accent!Following this she teamed up with German singer Rex Gildo to make six 45's and an album. But after a while Gitte felt she had enough of the sugar-coated image and decided to go solo again. She decided to bring more cheeky songs instead. From 1966 on a series of hit-singles followed. In the 70's,80's and 90's she was still one of the top-stars in Germany and she performs there to this day. Thanks to Guuzbourg again!

French music a gogo : Annie Philippe

At the age of 17 Annie Philippe was already dj-ing at the Twenty-One discotheque where she met Paul Mauriat.A year and some singing lessons later she had her first ep put out on the Riviera label. Her style was situated somewhere between Sylvie Vartan and France Gall, singing a mixture of uptempo pop songs and orchestrated ballads. In 1966 she had her biggest hit with "Ticket de quai".Strangely enough she changed record-company shortly after and moved to Philips for 2 years. In 1968 she changed record-company again, this time to Flèche (the new and prestigious label of Claude François) where she made her last record.
