Italian music a gogo : Gemelle Kessler

What's better than 1 yé-yé girl? Two! And what's even better? Twins! The German born Kessler Twins (well-known as star dancers in the Paris Lido by the late 50's) became a sensation when they moved to Italy in the early 60's and started recording there.They performed all over the world and still do in Germany.If there's interest I'll consider doing a special on them since not much seems to available in English...Watch them dance and sing "Quando quando" (scopitone) here,turn up loud!

    The word "giro", and the phrase "sono nel giro" it means to be on the group of friend but more extensively in the trend of the Beat way of life.

    I would love to find out a bit more about the Kessler twins as all i can remember about them is seeing them in some old German films and the fact that they had legs that went on forever.

    Kinda going along with what italianbeat said, the song sounds rather like 'I'm In with the In Crowd' by the Mamas and the Papas. Seeing as that I've never heard the song in its entirety, it might well be a cover..

    Hi pplipp,I stumbled on that scopitone by accident,good thing I recognised them!The mix of Italian and German in the song is quite interesting. :)
    Hi davecat,yes it's a cover of Dobie Gray's "The "in" crowd" ,which in turn was covered by The Mamas and Papas,and a lot of others.Showing once more the big influence of American music on European yé-yé. :)
