Christine was a second-generation yé-yé girl and purveyor of typical late sixties "baroque-pop" in a similar vein as Violaine and Clothilde,there is also a connection with Germinal Tenas.She also had a career as an actress and her most famous role was in The 1965 mini-series "Belphégor" ,to my surprise she also appeared in an episode of "The New Avengers"! German girl-group Die Sweetles only made two 45's,this song is the b-side of their fab "Ich wünsch mir zum Geburtstag einen Beatle" 45 and translates as "School is out".Great song girls,anyone who makes a "Papa oom mow mow" rip-off is ok in my book!

Spanish music a gogo : Dúo Dinámico

No it's not Batman and Robin but Manuel de la Calva and Ramón Arcusa! These guys started off in the fifties as "The Dinamic Boys" but since a radio-presenter couldn't pronounce their name in English and just called them "Dúo Dinámico",they've called themselves that way ever since.They had an amazing career from 1959 till 1973 and then from 1986 till 2001! On the right you can see them having fun with Massiel at the 1968 Eurovision song-festival! Here are some nice pants-swingers for you all.I've also included a very funny videoclip (check out their Beatle-wigs and sounds!) of the boys performing "Volver el rock" from their 1968 Spanish movie "Una chica para dos".

Spanish music a gogo : Conchita Velasco

Conchita (also known as Concha) is a very respected Spanish actress that quite accidentally became a yé-yé singer. In the 1965 movie "Historias de la Televisión" (TV stories) Conchita sang the ironic "Chica YeYé" (yé-yé girl), composed by ... yes, Algueró/Guijarro. This wonderful song, that represents very well Spanish yé-yé, was a phenomenal success, instantly transforming Conchita into a pop star.There are many versions of the song, Conchita's is the original and arguably the best (with the exception perhaps of Rosalia's, another Spanish "yeyé" girl). Conchita never took very seriously her singing career.She always approached ironically her recordings. In the second half of the sixties she recorded several EPs for the Spanish label Belter,which included many tracks of Guijarro/Algueró. Antonio Guijarro's lyrics are usually rather sarcastic, and often work better performed by limited singers."Beatnik" was the main track of one of those ep's. In the song Conchita, who sounds totally rural and uncouth, sings that she can't love his persistent suitor because he's not beatnik enough, and she only could love someone that dresses and moves like a beatnik. By the end of the sixties Conchita´s moment as a yé-yé singer was over. She concentrated in her career as an actress which includes a lot of successes. Great song by French actrice Annie Girardot from the 1968 French movie "Erotissimo". Annie is a middle-age wife, still sexy and pampered by her husband, Phillippe, who is the owner and general manager of a dynamic company. Under the deluge of sexy Swedish movies, sexy advertising on the streets, sexy intimate clothing in ladies' shops, and even talks about sex and marital infidelity with her mother and female friends, Annie starts feeling left aside by her husband, and trying to attract in a number of ways - and failing. It's not the all-purpose secretary at the office that is keeping him late, it's a tax expert that, asking the most innocent questions, is finding out how Philippe can manage a company without profits, and still manage a home, may be two... with high quality levels.(Artemis-9)
The song-title translates as "The woman with false eye-lashes".

More great songs from the one and only Teddy Parker,get ready to twist the night away!
The choice resident of Munich Teddy Parker had two careers: As cover-artist he copied end of the 50's to the mid of the 60's (under various aliases) everything that had rank and name in the hit parades for the cheap label Tempo. And as Teddy Parker, who began once as Claus Herwig, he even came into the Charts in 1963. "Nachtexpress nach St. Tropez" was the successful Twist title and it provided for the young singer a few solid years in the record and music film business.Eventually all music remained only a hobby.Teddy Parker started work at the beginning of the 70's as a music editor to the Bavarian broadcast,but he still had some hits.That's where he also works today and he keeps performing for his fans to this day.There's a compilation cd available from Bear Family Records. Everybody should realise by now that Italian soundtracks from the sixties and early seventies are a goldmine just waiting to be discovered.
Here's something from the 1966 Italian/Spanish co-production "Kiss Kiss...Bang Bang" with vocals by Nancy Cuomo and music by Cassia and Bruno Nicolai.(big thanks to 60-one)

Dalida, the beautiful, tragic French chanteuse born in Egypt to Italian parents, was active in the film and music world beginning in the 1950's. She first worked as a double for Joan Collins in The Egyptian, after which she travelled to France, where she was quickly signed to Barclay records. Her output during her Barclay years (1956 through 1970) consisted largely of French versions of American, British, Italian, and occasionally German hits.
Speedy Gonzalez and Itsy-Bitsy-Teeny-Weeny-Yellow-Polka-Dot-Bikini (Itsy-Bitsy-Teeny-Weeny-Tout-Petit- Petit-Bikini) are particularly amusing in French. After changing labels in 1970, she began to record more originals, having even greater chart success in France and other countries. Dalida left us on 3 May 1987. (courtesy davdmock)
